Rockin' Exhibit

MAY 19-20  A new exhibit opens Saturday at the Berkshire Museum. "Guitar: The Instrument That Rocked the World" explores the science, sound, and cultural impact of the guitar in a family-friendly installation that contains more than 70 instruments, as well as videos, audio stations, hands-on interactives, models, touchscreens and photos. The debut party is Friday at 5:30 p.m. Purchase tickets online. Space Day is also on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Berkshire Botanical's Plant Sale 

MAY 19-20  Say hello to spring with Berkshire Botanical Garden's 40th Annual Plant Sale. More than 180 varieties of native plants will be for sale by vendors from far and near. There will also be a silent auction, where you can bid on specialty plants, wall gardens, green services, and more. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Local Theater

MAY 20  Dylan Thomas's "Under Milk Wood” was completed by the Welsh poet just before his death in 1953 at the young age of 39. Directed by Benjamin Luxon, the Sandisfield Players perform this special Saturday show at 7 p.m. at the Unicorn Theatre in Stockbridge. The narrator will guide you through the dream worlds of sleeping villagers to the antics of their waking lives and back again to sleepy dusk. Tickets can be purchased online.  Read More

Let's Go Birding in the Berkshires

MAY 21  This Sunday at 8 a.m., join the Hoffmann Bird Club and the Great Barrington Land Conservancy at the Berkshire Natural Resources Council's Alford Springs Reserve for another in a series of "Birding Beyond Your Backyard." These excursions are designed for beginning birders who would like to expand their birding knowledge. Wear long pants and bring water and a snack. It will be a moderate hiking pace with excellent footing. All are welcome. More birding is planned at BNRC's Constitution Hill in Lanesborough on June 2, BNRC's Hollow Fields in Richmond on June 3, and the Bidwell House in Monterey on June 4. Read More

MAY 25  New York City comedian Joe Zimmerman takes the stage at The Comedy Garage next Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Zimmerman made his first Comedy Central appearance on John Oliver's "New York Stand Up Show" and can be heard regularly on SiriusXM and Pandora. His debut album Smiling at Wolves reached #2 on the ITunes comedy charts when released by New Wave Entertainment in January 2014. Tickets for Thursday's performance are $5. Read More
