Workshop in Old Master's Techniques

In this WCAA studio workshop with Thomas Bosket, an art professor at the New School and a masterful artist, participants will learn to mix colors precisely, control the viscosity of paint and layer through glazing and scumbling. Participants need a background in painting.  Please bring a good color copy of a still life that you Love and one that involves a layering of color (13th to 18th Century). You may have to paint on the still life, so make sure it is one that you can work with and paint on. The instructor will provide still life photos as well.

Part of the joy of painting in the 21st century is the range of art styles and techniques that are available to contemporary artists. Artists can gain tremendous versatility studying the methods, palettes, and techniques of the Old Masters.

The workshop will be held at the WCAA art space located at 742 Main St. Honesdale.  For information or to register, please call the office at 253-6850 or wcaa@waynecountyartsalliance.org.

Sunday Night Cinema

Local film fans will get a chance to watch on the big screen the Italian classic “Nights of Cabiria” on Sunday, March 7.  Directed by famed director Frederico Fellini, the 1957 film tells the story of a defiantly optimistic street walker in Rome.  In spite of numerous betrayals and humiliations she retains a fierce independence and positive attitude.  “Nights of Cabiria” has become one of the best loved films by director Frederico Fellini and was the inspiration for the successful American musical “Sweet Charity”.   Members and guests of the Wayne County Arts Alliance are invited to come and see why this movie won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Actress Award for Giulietta Masina at the Cannes Film Festival.

“Nights of Cabiria” is the fourth film to be presented in the Wayne County Arts Alliance’s winter film series featuring classic movies by top directors from all over the world.  The program, shown by arrangement with the Motion Picture Licensing Corporation, will be presented at 7:00 p.m. at the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, 32 Commercial Street, in Honesdale.  A donation of $5.00 per person is suggested, to help support the activities of the Arts Alliance.  The film will be preceded with a short introduction and followed by a discussion.  For more information, contact the Arts Alliance at (570) 253-6850 or visit http://www.waynecountyartsalliance.org.
