In Sumi painting, you don’t just paint what you see, you paint what you feel. Thereby, painting with the soul is fundamental sumi painting and
calligraphy on silk. In this workshop, you will be introduced to an authentic Asian perception on how to approach and feel the “object” you want to express in sumi style through your
playful and tender inner world. Also, you will be introduced to the philosophy and theory of sumi painting and calligraphy. A brief history of seal carving and usage of chops will be lectured.
Students will have at least one completed painting from the workshop.
