Dear WCAA Members, I was contacted by Heather Nelson, who is the Director of Inmate Services at the Wayne County Correctional Facility. She is interested in starting a basic art program for the inmates at the facility and is wondering if WCAA members would be interested in volunteering their time to help. Typically the inmates ages range from 18-50. Heather writes, "We have males and female inmates. We have about 120 inmates but they are in 9 different units so we would have to split them up. So in one unit we have about 30-40 guys, in females we have 20, then in all different units it ranges. Most of them are wonderful artists and they have been asking to start a program. Even if you cannot help me maybe if you know someone that can volunteer to teach the inmates how to become a great artists." If you are interested in helping start this program, please contact the WCAA office at 570-253-6850 or email: wcaa@waynecountyartsalliance.org. Tamara Murray
