The news is now official! The Lackawaxen
River has been selected by the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, DCNR, as Pennsylvania’s 2010 River of the Year. The Lackawaxen River Conservancy, TLRC,
chosen as the lead organization for the year’s activities, is reaching out to businesses and organizations in the community to make each and every event a success. Part of the year's
activities involve creating a poster for National
Rivers Month in June.
WCAA has been asked to
work with the Lackawaxen River Conservancy in
creating that poster. Here are the general guidelines for the poster:
1. DNCR would like to have
approximately 10 submissions.
2. The art work does not have to be new.
3. The art can be an artistic interpretation (oil, water color, etc) or a photo of the Lackawaxen.
4. They would
like the submissions by 2/15/10 which means that WCAA, the artists and TRLC would have to select submissions in the next two weeks.
5. The selections will be narrowed down by all parties by the
end of February and poster production would begin.
Please call the WCAA office (570-253-6850) right away if you are interested in participating in this wonderful opportunity to celebrate
our local resources...the Laxawaxen River, Art and Artists!
